Why We Care So Much About Ticks
Our Story
We started First Nations Veterinary in 2023, doing high-volume spay/neuter on Hopi, Navajo and Warm Springs. Through that work, we got to know and love many rez dogs and cats. We noticed lots of ticks on the pets. Some pets we met were very sick from tick-borne diseases.
We then learned that many diseases including Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever can be passed from pets to humans, and often they are passed to children who play with family pets.
